Configure SNMP Traps

To monitor SNMP-enabled device traps, follow these steps:

  1. Go to All Clients and open the Client/Partner dropdown.
  2. Navigate to Setup > Account > Integrations to open the Account Details screen.
  3. Click Integrations to view the Installed Integrations page.
  4. On the Installed Integrations page, click +ADD.
  5. Find the SNMP Traps Configuration application tile and click ADD.
  6. In the GENERAL DETAILS section, enter the required information to complete the configuration.

Exclude or Include OIDsChoose to either INCLUDE or EXCLUDE specific trap OIDs for monitoring.

OIDsSpecify the list of OIDs to include or exclude based on the selection above. You can add OIDs manually or import them from a CSV file. Each OID must be valid and unique. To manually add OIDs to include or exclude:
  1. Select EXCLUDE OIDs or INCLUDE OIDs.
  2. Enter the OID and click +
    During the manual entry, you cannot add empty, duplicate, or invalid OIDs.
To import a CSV file of OIDs:
  1. Select EXCLUDE OIDs or INCLUDE OIDs.
  2. Create a CSV file containing the OIDs. The CSV file has one column with OIDs as the heading followed by one OID per line after the heading:

  3. Click the import icon and click Upload JSON File.
  4. Select the CSV file and click IMPORT.
  5. Note: When you upload a CSV file, the OIDs in the CSV file will replace any OIDs already included or excluded in the SNMP trap monitor.

Receive traps from all resourcesAllows traps from all monitored devices, regardless of group or resource configuration.Radio Button
Receive traps from specified resource groups onlyOnly receive traps from selected resource groups configured in the platform. If selected the Resource Groups field becomes available.Radio Button
Receive traps from specified resources onlyOnly receive traps from individually selected resources. If selected, the Assigned Resources field becomes available.
You can use the ADVANCED SEARCH option to search for resources.
  1. Click ADVANCED SEARCH.
  2. In the RESOURCE FILTER window, select resources. Alternatively, click +QUERY, provide OpsQL query, and select resources.
  3. Click APPLY.
    Note: The maximum resources you can select is 50.
Radio Button
Discard traps from specific IP addressesIgnore traps received from the specified IP addresses. If selected, the IP addresses field becomes available for entry.Radio Button
Resource GroupsAppears only when Receive traps from specified resource groups only is selected. Select one or more resource groups from the dropdown. The system processes SNMP traps only from devices in these groups.Multi-entry Text
Assigned ResourcesAppears only when Receive traps from specified resources only is selected. Select one or more assigned resources from the dropdown. SNMP traps will be processed only from these selected devices.Multi-entry Text

Process all interface trapsIf enabled, traps from both monitored and non-monitored interfaces will be processed. By default, the checkbox is unselected.Checkbox

After you click FINISH, the integration will be installed and appear on the Installed Integrations page. You can use the search icon to quickly find the installed integration.
